Popular Bondi Rescue lifeguard Chris “Chappo” Chapman is running in this weekend’s City2Surf in support of WSPA.

This is the second time Chris is competing in the iconic Sydney fun run and this year he will be running with four friends to raise funds and awareness for WSPA.

This real life hero, who patrols one of the world’s busiest and most famous beaches, is an avid animal lover and having two dogs of his own, boxers Max and Marley, animal welfare is a cause close to his heart.

“Animals make my life better, my dogs are always happy to see us. These are the first dogs I’ve ever had and I couldn’t imagine life without them now.  I think most people have a soft spot for animals. A world without animals, to me, would not be a nice world to live in,” he said.

Chris is calling on all animal lovers to join him in supporting this important cause by donating online or visiting him at the Bondi Lifeguard Tower to donate in person.  All funds raised will help WSPA to protect animals around the world.

“You should support our team because we will be running like maniacs, so the more you donate the faster we will run for the animals!” he said.

There are a record number of 85,000 people registered in this year’s City2Surf event.  WSPA’s Fundraising Coordinator Anne Keyvar says: “We have a total of 70 WSPA supporters participating this year, which is a fantastic. These people really are animal heroes, helping to transform the lives of animals around the world.  We wish everyone the best of luck!”

The Sydney City2Surf is taking place on Sunday 14 August.  Bondi Rescue lifeguard Chris “Chappo” Chapman is hoping to raise as much money as possible, so if you can’t run yourself, help him raise vital funds for WSPA at http://www.fundraise.city2surf.com.au/bondi_boys.
