Join Asher Keddie on her bear rescue journey

Today actress and WSPA ambassador, Asher Keddie begins the journey to Romania to see first-hand the work WSPA supporters have made possible and to help bears held in in a lifetime of cruel captivity. These bears, kept in terrible conditions in zoos and private properties around Romania, are just a step away from freedom thanks to our generous supporters.

Over the next seven days, Asher will join Victor Watkins and other WSPA staff to take part in rescuing of three bears currently living in horrible conditions in a zoo and witness the release of two previously-rescued bears from quarantine into the sanctuary.

Jimy and Jexy, the two bears who will be released from quarantine into the Zarnesti sanctuary, were held illegally at the back of a bread factory for nearly all of their lives after being taken from the wild as cubs. They lived in a concrete and wire cage and that the bears were fed a very poor diet, consisting mainly of bread. This is no way for a bear to live.

Asher will also be helping sanctuary staff prepare meals for the 59 bears currently living in the sanctuary and witness first-hand the difference WSPA has made to these bears’ lives.

You can join Asher on her journey by following WSPA on Facebook, Twitter (#BearRescue) and Instagram (wspaaustralia) for an exclusive insight.
