Member Societies in Australasia sometimes require volunteer assistance from people with specific skills, from media and public relations to campaigning and veterinary expertise. If you wish to volunteer for a Member Society in the region, visit this page regularly for the latest volunteer positions as they become available. If you would like to volunteer for an animal protection group anywhere in the world, please visit our International web site. Animal / Farm Hand – Good Samaritan Donkey Sanctuary, Australia Weekly assistance from 7AM to midday would be wonderful but GSDS will be happy to discuss other times. Volunteers with equine experience are preferred but not necessary. GSDS is a wonderful place to volunteer as donkeys give so much pleasure. To volunteer as an animal/farm hand please contact Jo-Anne or Sandy Kokas on +61 (02) 4996 5596. You can also visit www.donkeysanctuary.org.au for further information about the Donkey Sanctuary. Shelter and Animal Carers – Animal Protection Society of WA, Australia Assistance in caring for abandoned cats and dogs is greatly needed at the Animal Protection Society shelter at 27 Talbot Road, Southern River. Various duties to help maintain a heavenly refuge for these animals include dog-walking, cleaning kennels and catteries, bathing dogs, cuddling cats and mowing the lawn. Help is needed everyday but you can choose your days and the hours are flexible. If you are able to help with cleaning kennels and washing bedding, these duties are done first thing in the morning for the comfort of the animals. The only criterion is that you love dogs and cats! To volunteer as a Shelter and Animal Carer please contact Clare Mills on +61 (08) 9398 6616 or email info@animalprotectionsociety.westnet.com.au. Veterinarian - Yudisthira (Bali Street Dog Foundation) The Bali Street Dog Foundation, also known as Yudisthira, was established to provide veterinary treatment to the island‘s street dogs and reduce their numbers through a catch, neuter/spay and release progreamme. The Foundation also conducts highly effective public education and veterinary training aimed at improving welfare in Bali in the long-term. The Bali Street Dog Foundation welcomes volunteer veterinarians to take part in their work. If you have these skills and wish to volunteer, please visit www.yamp.com/balidogs for more information. | ||
